Bringing Robotics to Life with the Seeker 3D Simulation
Challenge: Bridging Physical Robotics with Digital Learning
Pitsco Education, a leader in STEM-based curriculum development, wanted to extend the reach of its innovative Seeker robot - an educational tool designed to teach coding and robotics to middle school students. While the physical robot delivered a strong, engaging and fun hands-on learning experience, Pitsco recognized the limitations it posed for students and schools without access to robotics hardware. The challenge was to build a virtual simulation of the Seeker robot that would be seamlessly integrated into Pitsco’s online learning portal, making robotics accessible to a broader audience.
Enable Education partnered with Pitsco to bring this vision to life by creating an immersive digital version of the Seeker robot using the Unity game engine.

Solution: A Virtual Robot for Real-World Learning
The result of the collaboration was the Seeker 3D Simulation - a web-based, interactive environment designed for grades 7 and 8. This simulation replicates the behavior of the physical Seeker robot and provides students with hands-on coding practice in a digital space. Students use python or Blockly, a block-based coding tool similar to Scratch, to build programs. These Blockly scripts are automatically translated into Python, helping students see the connection between visual and text-based coding.
The simulation features immersive environments, each aligned with a specific unit in Pitsco’s curriculum. Each unit is story-driven, casting students as members of a tech startup solving real-world problems. For example, in the city environment, students code the Seeker to complete delivery tasks for local restaurants. Another unit places the robot in a theatre production, where the Seeker uses lights and sounds to assist with stage effects.

Enable’s most significant technical challenge was translating Python code into C# (the scripting language used by Unity) to ensure accurate robot behaviour in the simulation. Through tight integration with Pitsco’s Learning Portal, Enable delivered a seamless, browser-based experience that works reliably across Chromebooks, laptops, and desktops.
Impact: Expanding Access and Enhancing STEM Learning
The Seeker 3D Simulation has had a transformative impact on STEM education for middle schoolers. It makes robotics more accessible by offering a high-fidelity virtual alternative, making it possible for all students to engage in meaningful coding and problem-solving activities, regardless of physical resources.
Students benefit from an intuitive, responsive learning environment that mirrors real-world robotics applications. The platform reinforces computational thinking and logical reasoning, and prepares students for future careers in technology by integrating essential 21st-century skills.
By merging hands-on curriculum, immersive storytelling, game-based learning and powerful technical execution, Enable Education helped Pitsco achieve its goal of expanding access to high-quality, inclusive, and engaging robotics education.
